The insulation math, honestly
Door insulation is rated in R-value. Hollow steel is roughly R-0; polystyrene sandwich doors run R-6 to R-9; polyurethane-injected doors hit R-12 to R-18 with stiffer, quieter panels. On an attached garage in this climate, the jump to polyurethane pays for itself in furnace runtime and comfort - and a bonus U.P. perk: frost stops blooming on the inside of the door during cold snaps.
Detached, unheated garage or camp? A mid-range polystyrene door is usually the right money. We'll say which side of that line your garage is on.
Why not the box store?
Lowe's sells doors in Marquette; the install is a subcontract, the measurement is on you, and the "starting at" price grows quietly. Is an insulated garage door worth it in the U.P.?
Here, yes - and it is not close.
